Egrets and EVOs

Crossing the Grand River bridge at Galt, Ontario, the engineer on an eastbound ethanol train checks out an evert and great blue heron fishing just off the island. October 7, 2014.

Each spring and fall we are graced with the presence of visiting egrets, as many as 30 of them congregate on the river on their way to and from their summer home. They roost overnight in the trees across the river and spend the days in the company of the resident great blue herons. I expect the egrets will head south any day, but they're still here this morning. The engineer on an eastbound ethanol train checks out an egret and heron fishing just of the island.
